Juicy Turkey Burgers with Oats

Healthy, juicy turkey burgers made with rolled oats and simple pantry spices. Ready in 20 minutes on the stovetop or grill.

Ingredients

1/3 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 pound ground turkey (7% fat)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon oil, for the pan
4 brioche or hamburger buns, for serving
Toppings of your choice: lettuce, tomato, red onion, guacamole, mayo, mustard, ketchup

Instructions

Pulse oats in a blender or food processor until finely ground.
Combine ground turkey, oats, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt in a large bowl. Mix until just combined.
Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties just under 1 inch thick. Dampen your hands with cold water if the mixture is sticking while you form the patties.
Heat a thin layer of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through to 165°F.
Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For sliders: divide into 8 patties and cook 2 to 3 minutes per side.

To grill: preheat to medium-high, grease the grates well, and cook 5 to 6 minutes per side.

For the juiciest patties, look for ground turkey with around 7% fat. Very lean ground turkey (99%) tends to dry out.
