How to Make Tastes-Like-Ice-Cream Kale Smoothie

- Put all of the ingredients into your blender (in the order listed in the recipe card) and puree for about a minute, until smooth and creamy. Tweak flavors to taste.
Tips and Tricks
- Use ripe bananas for maximum natural sweetness.
- Soak cashews ahead of time for an extra smooth texture if you have the time.
- Adjust the amount of ice for thicker or more pourable consistency.

Tastes-Like-Ice-Cream Kale Smoothie
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- 1/2 teaspoon probiotic powder, optional
- 1/2 cup raw, unsalted cashews, soaked
- 1 cup torn-up curly green kale leaves
- 2 ripe bananas, fresh or frozen
- 1/4 cup chopped pitted dates, soaked OR 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
- 2 cups ice cubes (a little less if using frozen bananas)
- 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger, optional
Instructions
- Put all of the ingredients into your blender in the order listed and puree for about a minute, until smooth and creamy. Tweak flavors to taste (you may like a bit more kale, sweetener, or ginger.)

My favorite smoothie is avocado, banana, milk and honey or maple syrup!
We love green lemonade slushies. Spinach, lemon juice, sugar, water and ice. Delicious!
My 3 year old and I love chocolate protien powder, natural peanut butter, coconut milk and almonds mixed in vitamix! tastes like a chocolate peanut butter milk shake-uh-yum!!!
I make salsa in my blender. One small onion cut in quarters, two jalapeños (remove seeds to reduce heat), two yellow chili peppers (remove seeds to reduce heat), one 28oz can organic whole tomatoes, a handful of cilantro, juice from half a lime, salt and garlic salt to taste.

Lately, our favorite blender recipe is making ice cream with our new Vitamix. Just frozen bananas and frozen peaches. Yummy!
I love making hummus in my vitamix! It makes it super smooth!
My 2.5 year old’s favorite smoothie (we have it 4 days a week!)- 1 banana, 1 apple, 1.5 cups berries, 2 cups of kale or spinach, 2 cups of OJ. That concoction makes enough for mommy, daddy and toddler to enjoy for breakfast! Cut everything up the night before and put it all in the blender. In the morning, daddy adds the OJ and blends! I’m looking for more smoothies/ways to add more greens to her diet, and would LOVE a copy of that book!
Do Margaritas Count?! Ok fine, we love to make anything in the blender that tastes like a milkshake – yum!
My 5 year old pretty much has at least 1-2 smoothies a day! Some plain yogurt, mixed berries, handful of baby spinach, flax seed oil, and a cherry on top (actually it sinks to the bottom).
