The Ingredients

What makes this healthy kale smoothie taste like ice cream? The magic is in these ingredients:

  • Bananas and dates: Add natural sweetness and balance the greens.

  1. Put all of the ingredients into your blender (in the order listed in the recipe card) and puree for about a minute, until smooth and creamy. Tweak flavors to taste.

Tips and Tricks

  • Use ripe bananas for maximum natural sweetness.
  • Soak cashews ahead of time for an extra smooth texture if you have the time.
  • Adjust the amount of ice for thicker or more pourable consistency.
  • With a conventional blender, you’ll get the smoothest consistency if you use maple syrup or chop the dates finely.

Comments

  1. In my favorite smoothie I use acai purée, blueberries, banana, mango, strawberries, kale, manuka honey, and probiotics.

  2. Just gave my 9 month old an adaptation of one of my favorite green smoothies…banana, spinach & whole milk plain yogurt. I’m always partial to add a bit of peanut butter to it but she’s a little too young for that. Yum!!

  3. hmmm spinach, bananas, berries, yogurt, and almond milk. I might throw some mango in too if we have it.

  4. I have been dreaming of owning a Vitamix as our blender can barely get the job done (and ice cubes are impossible) but every morning I make spinach, green tea, cucumber, lemon and ginger. It’s not sweet but it wakes me up!

  5. My favorite blender recipe is so easy and filling for times when I’m dieting. I use an orange, ice cubs, water, stevia, and vanilla extract. It tastes like dessert and is yummy.

  6. My kids would say Greek yogurt, frozen bananas and berries, spinach, veggie protein powder and oj. I say frozen bananas, Greek yogurt, almond butter, raw cocoa and coconut milk. Yum!

  7. Our favorite smoothie in the house is avocado smoothie made with fresh avocados, whole milk, vanilla extract and sweetened with honey!

  8. Banana, orange juice, yogurt, strawberries, blueberries – so fresh and good. Would love this book, I need to expand and include greens!! Thanks 🙂

  9. Would love this new recipe book! I like to make a spicy tomato sauce for enchiladas in my blender.

  10. My favorite blender recipe is one banana, 3 oranges, 1/2 cup cashews, 2 cups water and 1/2-1tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp probiotic powder.
