Why I Love This Recipe
Mango pairs so perfectly with warm spices like cinnamon and turmeric, and this smoothie is proof of that. It’s naturally sweet, gorgeously golden, and packed with ingredients that are actually doing something good for your body. It’s one of those recipes that feels like a treat but works just as hard as any green smoothie like my Green Breakfast Smoothie or Super Green Tropical Smoothie.
This Golden Milk recipe is another great way to get turmeric into your day. Same cozy, anti-inflammatory benefits, just without the tropical mango twist.
The Ingredients
- Frozen mango: The star of the show. Using frozen mango means you don’t need ice, and it gives the smoothie that thick, creamy texture.
- Banana: Adds natural sweetness and helps everything blend together smoothly.
- Frozen riced cauliflower: You cannot taste it, I promise. It adds a subtle creaminess and an extra serving of vegetables nobody will ever detect.
- Milk: Any kind works beautifully here. Dairy, oat, almond, or coconut milk all blend well. Coconut milk gives it an extra tropical note (similar to my Tropical Coconut Smoothie) if you want to lean into that.
- Hemp seeds: A great source of plant-based protein and healthy fats, and you won’t notice them at all once blended.
- Cinnamon: Warm, cozy, and one of the best spices that goes with mango.
- Turmeric: Added for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties and the gorgeous golden color it gives the smoothie.
- Coconut oil + cracked black pepper: These two work in tandem with the turmeric to maximize its anti-inflammatory benefits. The fat in coconut oil helps turmeric absorb, while black pepper boosts its bioavailability significantly. Don’t skip either one!
- Bee pollen: An optional but lovely nutritional boost. Skip it if you don’t have it.
Variations and Substitutions
- Add protein powder: A scoop of your favorite protein powder blends right in without changing the flavor. Vanilla works especially well with the mango and cinnamon.
- Skip the bee pollen: It’s a great add-in when you have it, but the smoothie is just as delicious without it.
- Add greens: A small handful of spinach blends in easily and you won’t taste it against the strong mango flavor.
- Add a kick: If you want a touch of heat to go with those warm spices, a small pinch of cayenne pepper works beautifully with the sweetness of the mango.

FAQs
Not at all! The spices here (cinnamon, turmeric, and black pepper) are warm and aromatic rather than hot. It’s a mellow, subtly spiced flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the mango. Kids love it.
You can, but frozen is really the way to go here. It gives the smoothie a thicker, creamier texture and means you don’t need to add any ice. If you’re using fresh mango, add a handful of ice to compensate.
Absolutely. There’s nothing in here that isn’t kid-friendly, and the hidden cauliflower makes it an easy way to get an extra vegetable in without any fuss. The golden color is naturally fun and inviting too!

- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 tablespoon hemp seeds
- 2 teaspoons coconut oil

Notes

- Black pepper and coconut oil are important. Don’t skip them! They work together to maximize the turmeric’s absorption and anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Add a scoop of protein powder if you’d like an extra boost. Vanilla flavor works especially well.
- Want a little heat? Add a small pinch of cayenne pepper.
- If using fresh mango instead of frozen, add a handful of ice to get that thick, creamy texture.

Do you ever add protein to this smoothie? Sounds delicious.
100%! You can add a serving of your favorite protein powder to any of the smoothies on weelicious! 🙂
This was the first time I use cauliflower, and I was a little unsure if I will liked the flavor ,and well I love it !!!
Yay! I love adding it to our smoothies! You can’t taste it and it adds another veggie 🙂 Win-win!
Hi! Do you steam your cauliflower first and then freeze it? Thanks so much!
I know bee pollen is supposed to be great for you, but I haven’t added it to my arsenal yet. Do I need to sub in something else for it, or just leave it out? Thanks!
Is the cauliflower raw? or cooked before frozen?
I never would have thought of CAULIFLOWER is a smoothie! Now I really want to try this (as if mangos weren’t enough, mango smoothies are an addiction), and see if my 5yo would like it too.
