When you have a baby you hope and expect that they will come out perfect in every way. You pray that everything you eat and do while your baby is in utero affects them in a positive way. I basically thought about this for 10 long months with each of my three pregnancies. I call these my crazy pants. I strap them on tight and don’t take them off until I’m holding my sweet babies in my arms.

With Kenya and Chloe I never had a day where I worried about them having food allergies as they never showed any signs of sensitives. I offered every food under the sun so they could enjoy a wide variety and they never had any reactions. With Gemma, though, it has been a different story. From the day she was born her skin was irritated and dry from eczema which was inevitably part of her diagnosis.

Would you like to save this?
We went to several allergists, I cut everything from dairy to gluten to sugar out of my diet for 5 long months. We finally discovered one of the causes being an egg allergy, but her eczema still hasn’t totally disappeared. There’s nothing more heart breaking than watching your child itch non stop whenever her clothes are off. Aside from changing my diet so my breastmilk is free of the foods we know are triggers, taking long warm baths and lubing her up with tons of moisturizing creams, there was little we could do to alleviate her pain.

We’ve always been conscious about the products we use in our home, but with anything that touches Gemma’s skin we have to be militant. We’ve always been big fan of the entire line of Seventh Generation products, but now with Gemma in diapers, using wipes on her skin several times a day and touching every surface around our home we’re even more aware. Watch this quick video to get even more ideas on how you can protect your children from pollutants, toxins and irritants and ideas of alleviating some of the possible causes of baby eczema in your home.

We’be been using Cetaphil for bath and aquaphor for moisturizer. Curious about what Seventh Generation has to offer.
My little guy didn’t have eczema until he stopped breastfeeding and started eating more solid foods. It’s on his wrists, ankles and sometimes behind his knees but not as bad. The pediatrician told me too generously lubricate those areas until it cleared up. She said it would take a couple weeks. My best guess as far as allergies was cow milk but we also live in a very dry climate with harsh winters

Allergies, excema, asthma….all too common among our children these days. As a medical professional, nutritionist and liver of all things natural it’s amazing to see/hear so many moms doing the best they can fir the health and well-being of their children! Natural, non-toxic, safe products make sense for families! Unfortunately some “green” companies aren’t as green or safe as they claim. Do your homework and your family will thrive!

We use Seventh Generations products too. Eczema is no fun and this really does help with it.
I love Seventh Generation products. We also use Weleda products, which are natural as well. The baby products contain calendula, which soothes the skin and is gentle on baby.
